In 1878 the Mishawaka Woolen Company, located on the shores of the St. Joseph River, invented the all-knit boot. 

Putting a black band with a red ball at the top of each boot led to the company's "Red Ball" and "Ball Band" trademarks, and Mishawakans began referring to the factory as "the Ball Band." 

Ball Band was synonymous with Mishawaka for many years, at one point employing over 9,000 employees. The factory stood where The Mill & Beutter Park stand today. 

We pay tribute to the manufacturing giant that helped make Mishawaka known around the world with our Ball Band shirt.
